Olympic Training

Surrey continues to be a chosen location for provincial, national and international events. These events have ranged from Olympic Short Track Speed Skating and Women’s Hockey at South Surrey Arena, to rhythmic gymnastics at Guildford Recreation Centre, to soccer at one of the many synthetic fields throughout the city.

Surrey's continued investment in sport infrastructure positions the City to be a leader in sport development and tournament hosting. Three artificial turf fields were built in 2006, one in 2007, plus two additional fields have been constructed in 2008 for a total of nine fields. The completion of a third sheet of ice at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex in 2008 provides an excellent tournament facility and brings the complement of ice sheets to eight.

Surrey's facilities are host to many athletes with disabilities. Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex has recently been upgraded to better accommodate the Paralympic sport of Sledge Hockey.
